Quick Tutorial
The mapAsheville Crime Mapper provides a series of searches to make locating an area on the map simpler.  The selections and searches include the following; Select a Neighborhood, Search by PIN (Parcel Identification Number), Search by Owner, and Search by Address or Street.  The search by PIN, owner name, and address or street will automatically generate choices as an entry is being made. Once the desired choice is displayed in the box below, the user will need to single-click and highlight that choice to zoom to the location. The last part discusses how to get a printable map and report.  Review the information below for step-by-step instructions. FYI Neighborhoods are for the City of Asheville Only. Neighborhoods and Buncombe are not available at this time.  User can use the select by Graphic and use: select by area.

How do I Find Crime Activity in my Neighborhood?

  1. Locate the Search by... section. and Click on the Neighborhood tab
  2. Find the section with the Title; Select by Neighborhood.


  3. Click on a Neighborhood.


  4. The Map will zoom to the Neighborhood.


  5. The Crime Information  Section will list the crime activity which is within a distance of the buffer value of the selected neighborhood .

How do I Find Development Activity close to my  property?

 

  1. Locate the Search by... section. and Click on the Property tab
  2. Find the section with the Title; Searches.


  3. Click on the option PIN or click on the option Owner.

  4. Start Typing the Pin Number, as you type the 4th number you will start see possible matches.
  5. or Start Typing the Owner Name with the Owner's LAST name fist, as you type the 4th letter of the last name you will start see possible matches.
  6. Click on the correct PIN or Owner from the list.
  7. The map will zoom to the parcel based on the PIN or Owner name selected.

  8. The Crime Information  Section will list the crime activity which is within a distance of the buffer value of the selected parcel .

 

How do I Find Crime Activity close to my Address?

  1. Locate the Search by... section. and Click on the Property tab
  2. Find the section with the Title; Searches.


  3. Choose the search type Address or Street

  4. Start Typing the address, as you type the 5th letter of the address you will start see possible matches.
  5. Click on the correct address from the list.
  6. The map will zoom to the address based on the address selected.

  7. The Crime Information  Section will list the crime activity which is within a distance of the buffer value of the selected address.

How do I Find Crime Activity close to my Street?

  1. Locate the Search by... section. and Click on the Property tab
  2. Find the section with the Title; Searches.


  3. Click on the search type Address or Street

  4. Start Typing the street name, as you type the 5th letter of the street you will start see possible matches.
  5. Click on the correct street from the list.
  6. The map will zoom to the street based on the street name selected.

  7. The Crime Information Section will list the crime activity which is within a distance of the buffer value of the selected street .

How do Get a printable Report

  1. Find the section with the Title; Get a Printable Report.


  2. Single-Click the go Button.
  3. A PDF will generated with a map and report.
