Simple Search
mapAsheville provides a series of searches to make locating information on a map simple.  The simple search page can be found at http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/mapAsheville/search.asp.  The searches include the following; Search by Pin, Search by Owner, Search by Address, Search by Street, and Geocode an Address.  The search by PIN, owner name, street address and street name will automatically generate choices as an entry is being made. Once the desired choice is displayed in the box below the entry the user will need to click and highlight that choice and then click the ‘get map’ button. Another window will pop up with the selected feature highlighted on the map display.
 
Search by Pin
To locate a parcel through its parcel identification number or PIN.
  1.  Go to the simple search page at http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/mapAsheville/search.asp.  Find the Search by PIN text box.
  2. Enter a PIN.  As the PIN is entered the page will automatically generate choices that match.
  3. Single-Click the correct PIN in the list and hit enter, or click the Get Map Button.  The map will zoom, select, and highlight the features matching the PIN.
 
Search by Owner
To locate a parcel through the Owner.
  1. Go to the simple search page at http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/mapAsheville/search.asp.  Find the Search by Owner text box.
  2. Enter an Owner Name, the correct method is Last Name first.  As the Owner Name is entered the page will automatically generate choices that match.  The result list will contain the Owner Name, [Physical address] , and PIN - the Parcel Identification Number (PIN).
  3. Single-Click the correct Owner in the list and hit enter, or click the Get Map Button.  The map will zoom, select, and highlight features matching the Owner.
 
Search by Address
To locate a structure through the address.  Please note: This method does not  identify parcels!
  1. Go to the simple search page at http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/mapAsheville/search.asp.  Find the Search by Address text box.
  2. Enter the complete Address. If you include the zip code you must use a comma.  As the Address is entered the page will automatically generate choices that match.  The result list will contain the Address, and Zip Code.
  3. You may also omit the house number to return a list of all addresses.
  4. Single-Click the correct address in the list and hit enter, or click the Get Map Button.  The map will zoom, select, and highlight features matching the Address.
 
Search by Street
To locate a street.
  1. Go to the simple search page at http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/mapAsheville/search.asp.  Find the Search by Street text box.  Please note: This method does not  identify parcels!
  2. Enter a Street Name.  As the Street Name is entered the page will automatically generate choices that match.  The result list will contain the [address range], Street Name, [zip code] , and center line identification number.
  3. Single-Click the correct Owner in the list and hit enter, or click the Get Map Button.  The map will zoom, select, and highlight features matching Owner.
 
Geocode an Address
To locate a location through geocoding.
  1. Go to the simple search page at http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/mapAsheville/search.asp.  Find the Search by Owner text box.
  2. Enter an address without the zip code!.
  3. Single-Click the correct zip code from the list and hit enter, or click the Get Map Button.  The map will zoom and highlight the Geocoded location.
