Tool: Print the Map
Icon: 
Description: This button will open a pop-up for the user to create a PDF version of the current map Display.
Note: Pop-up’s must be enabled or allowed for this site (http://gis.ashevillenc.gov/) for the print map functionality to work properly. User Interaction:
- Single-Click on the
button. - Choose a map orientation (1).
- Choose a quality (2).
- Choose a print size (3).
- Enter a map scale (4).
- Enter a Title (5.
- Enter a Map Source (6).
- Enter a Data Source (7).
- Enter a Disclaimer (8).
- Enter a Print Date (9).
- Single-Click the execute button (10) to create a PDF map
Or
- Single-Click the cancel (11) button to exit the pop-up without creating a PDF.
Requirements: None.
Limitations:
- In some cases the map may contain more or less information than what exists in visible the map. This happens when the map scale and the print size change what layers are visible and what layers are not visible. In addition, the map dimensions are always different from dimensions of the map in PDF. This may also result in more or less information in the PDF map.
- Maps at scales greater than 50,000 and in combination with print sizes greater than tabloid may result in a system timeout and no map being created.
Orientation:
- Portrait
- Landscape
Quality:
- Print – highest quality, largest file size suitable for presentations and printing
- Email – lowest quality, suitable for email distribution.
Print Size:
- Letter (8.5 x 11 / 11 x 8.5)
- Legal (8.5 x 14 / 14 x 8.5)
- Tabloid (11 x 17 / 17 x 11)
- C Size (17 x 22 / 22 x 17)
- D Size (22 x 34 / 34 x 22)
- E Size (34 x 44 / 44 x 34)

- After the
button is Single-Clicked the print map pop-up will appear. - After the execute button (5) is Single-Clicked a pdf will open.
- Save the PDF to retain the map.
Or
- Print the PDF to an appropriate printer.
